Tried this restaurant for the first time tonight. Did not read others reviews before dining and wish I had. A friend and I decided to try it out and just returned from "dining". They were not too busy so got a table and a server approached us quickly. Got a menu and started looking. Note on the dinner was that you got a choice of salad or soup. I had to ask the server twice what the soup was--she did not know. It did not sound appetizing. They has both chopped salad and Caesar salad on the menu. I asked if I could get a small portion of the Caesar salad instead of the chopped. I have problems with iceburg lettuce but was told no substitutions. I ordered Chicken Marsala--one of my favorite things. I have had it in Italy, Europe, all over the US and made it at home. So I do know what is supposed to go into it. In about 15 minutes, I was served grilled chicken over noodles with a butter cream sauce. There were generous portions I will admit. However, the sauce was wrong and there were absolutely no mushrooms to be found. After a few minutes I caught my server and asked where the mushrooms were? She replied, well the cook probably forgot to add them. So I gave her my plate so they could be added. What I got back was cold spaghetti, the grilled chicken, sliced mushrooms (uncooked and room temperature that looked like they came from the glass jars at the grocery store) and the entire thing was now covered with Parmesan cheese--like that was going to make it better! I took a couple bites and asked for a box. At least I can use the chicken in a salad later. Now anyone familiar with this dish would know it is made with a RED dry wine and the meat and mushrooms are cooked or grilled to make a dark brown sauce. No way was Marsala used to make the butter cream sauce I got served. So my advice is DO NOT ORDER IT! At the counter paying, they asked if I liked my meal. I told them that it was the worst Marsala dish I have ever had. No offer to make it right--and I spent almost $14.00 learning this lesson. So my advice to the restaurant--TAKE IT OFF THE MENU! If you do not know how to make something, or how it should taste, then do not serve it! I would be surprised if they even had a bottle of the Marsala wine in the kitchen. I will not be back under any circumstances.

When they first open their food was incredible. The last 2 times we have eaten there it has been inedible. Salads have barely had dressing on them, the pasta is not seasoned at all, the alfredo sauce is not seasoned either. My husbands meatballs were so greasy they left a grease puddle on top of the sauce. We've decided that they are way too expensive to not be able to eat the meals. We won't be going back.

Solid approach to Italian food in the PL. Ordered to-go for a large group. Enjoyed the sampler, the meatballs, dishes Alfredo, and the bread was great. Had the standard yeast loaf and it was perfectly chewy and flavorful. Definitely worth a visit

Thats a maybe. You cant charge these kind of prices and the food taste like it just got microwaved. I got the pasta sampler. Ok for $8.99 it was a little disappointing with the portion. But thats ok cause it all looked and taste the same. It was also very greasy. I dont think I will eat her again but wanted to see what else port lavaca had to offer. They are a new restaurant so hopefully they will have a chance to grow and learn. Then maybe I will try again.

Pizza

Pizza is a famous Italian dish savored around the world. The entire credit for the popularity of Pizza in the United States goes to the chain of pizzerias all over the country. While the base and the texture of Pizza remains same across the globe, it's the toppings that differs from country to country. In the United States, you will find the top pizzerias serving pizzas with the toppings of mainly beef, bacon, chicken, ham, and sausage for the non-vegetarians. Other than these famous meat options, Pizzas with veg toppings such as mushrooms, pepperonis, garlic, tomatoes, spinach, etc. are also famous in most restaurants in the United States.

Irrespective of your locality, you will find a variety of different restaurants in your cities offering pizzas of all different types. Pizza is hot favorite among people of all ages in the United States. A large size pizza is enough to feed a family of 3 or 4 at large. Pizza is also the most preferred food whenever a group of friends is hanging out together. Pizza gained popularity in the United States after the American soldiers stationed in Italy returned from World War II.

Over the years, different pizzerias in the United States have developed their own respective regional variations. Pizza gained popularity as the iconic dish in the United States in the second half of the 20th century. Whether you prefer thin or thick crust pizza, you can find a pizza of your preference at the best pizza restaurants in your city.

Italian Cuisine

The immense popularity of Italian cuisine globally isn't unknown. You can find an Italian Pizzeria around every corner of almost every city in the United States. Not to forget that in every house, people enjoy mac and cheese as comfort food. But it would be wrong to believe that Italian food starts with pizza and ends with good pasta as this Mediterranean country has much more to offer other than these two dishes. In Italian Cuisine, there is a high use of fresh tomatoes, all kinds of herbs, great quality of cheese, all types of meat, seafood and fresh handmade pasta. Many find it hard to believe that Italians have been making noodles long back.

Italian and Greek cuisines are always mistaken to be same, but they are poles apart. The primary difference between the two cuisines is the use of cheese in most of the Italian dishes. Italians love to cultivate their own cheese and process them as per their food requirement. It is believed that some cheese is so expensive that cheese producers secure them in lockers.

If you are bored eating the same old pasta or pizza, you can try some of the authentic Italian dishes like Risotto, Polenta, Ribollita, Lasagna, Fiorentina Steak, Bottarga, Ossobuco, Carbonara, Focaccia, Arancini and Supplì. Another item which Italians love to relish every morning is a good cup of Italian Coffee. Once you taste a freshly brewed cup of Italian Coffee, you might not visit Starbucks ever again. Authentic Italian food is made with heart and soul, so go find a restaurant where you can relish Italian cuisine in your city.
